About Melissa Jardin, LMFT

Melissa Jardin, LMFT

I am a San Francisco Bay Area native and moved to New York City in 2014. I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Somatic Psychotherapy from John F. Kennedy University and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a Studio Art Minor from California State University Hayward (now East Bay). I have worked in counseling centers, social service agencies, as well as in private practice in CA before moving and opening my practice in here in NYC. I have worked deeply with themes of grief and loss, anxiety, and relational issues and development.

My therapeutic approach begins with empathy, warmth, and acceptance, which I believe are essential in helping clients feel safe, cared for, and understood.

I value collaboration, open-heartedness, and humor as healing tools in this work. The decision to come to therapy can be a difficult one. It can come with feelings of vulnerability, and sometimes a fear of being judged. I believe whole heartedly that we all have our own path and our own truths. I am open minded and excited to help people find what happiness is to them and how to have the life and relationships they are longing for.

I welcome and celebrate the broad spectrum of identities that exist around sexuality and gender.

I have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community, as well as people in, or considering, poly relationships. I strive to provide a non-judgmental space for growth and healing.

I do not hold expectations about what your life should look like. I do have strong expectations for you to feel increased satisfaction, joy, and contentment with yourself and in your relationships. I want to help you foster a positive attitude towards yourself, and to facilitate deeper access to your inner resources. I am in this work to help you move towards what you want (even if you don’t know what that is yet), not to judge your past, present, or future.
